Temporary fix for my dryer hose.......will this work?
I have a couple of slites in my dryer vent hose (scrunchy metal hose) and the hot air is coming threw it. So I asked about something that I can use until I am able to get it replaced or fixed. I was told to use Duct Tape. Now I went to purchase some and realized that there are so many kinds of duct tape. So I bought one and need to know from YOU, if this was the right kind to get.
Brand:
Scotch Duct home and shop tape. (Nascar offically licensed).
Durable, Multipurpose, easy to tear.
Now when I read the inside cautions, it read: Do not use on flues, chimmeys, mufflers, and tailpipes.
Now can I still use that for the dryer?
The warning is because the duct tape could possibly catch fire so you should be careful. You'd probably be ok as the heat generated from the dryer is not that great but if you're a cautious person then I'd say no.
I think the larger question is why do it at all? The dryer exhaust is merely hot air. That hose just vents it to the outside so that the inside air is not affected. It's very cheap and easy to buy a replacement hose. I'd go to home depot or walmart and just buy a new one and put it on. In the meantime, your cracked hose will not cause any harm.
